Geraldton’s underwater playground!

The Meadows is a gorgeous reef dive showcasing seagrass meadows and limestone ridges full of crayfish.

The dive site is only a short distance (1 km/0.6 mi) from the centre of Geraldton, opposite the Retravision store in Chapman Road.

There is plenty of parking, and even a shower for after the dive!

The Meadows is only a 50 metre (55 yd) swim from the sandy beach, or short swim east from the northern rock groin should you choose to enter from the end of the groin.

The kelp-covered rocky reef is made up off ledges and undercuts which are packed with Western rock lobster (crayfish) and the occasional octopus.

The reef offers protection for a multitude of small reef fish such as cardinals, footballers, leatherjackets, puffers, boxfish and squirrel fish.

Other more open water fish life includes old wives, redlip morwong, lionfish and large pelagic samson fish.

Away from the rocky reef are beautiful seagrass meadows on a sandy bottom where a keen eye may see balers grazing on the bottom.

The Meadows is also a favourite haunt for curious playful friendly sealions and lucky divers who get the chance of an interaction will be amazed at their underwater antics as they join in and enjoy your dive too.
