Shelly Beach is eastern Australia’s only west facing beach!

Just a stones-throw from the center of Sydney, Shelly Beach is part of the Cabbage Tree Aquatic Reserve, declared in 2002.

It has been a no-take zone for over 20 years and a result of its protected status, Shelly Beach is now one of Sydney’s premier diving sites.

The beach is well sheltered from prevailing winds and swell due to its west facing location.

Shallow kelp covered reef and boulders on white sand provides home to a plethora of temperate marine life.

Snorkellers will discover giant cuttlefish, eastern blue groper, Port Jackson sharks, yellowtail kingfish, rays and wobbegongs, just to name a few.

In fact, over 200 species of fish have been identified at Shelly Beach!

For beginners and experienced divers alike, Shelly Beach is well worth the effort.

Local dive shops provide guided tours for the less experienced.
