Beautiful soft coral gardens, all so close to shore!
The Woongarra Marine Park, near Bundaberg the sugar cane capital of Australia, is one of the most brilliant easily accessible shore dive sites in Queensland. It is also part of the Great Sandy Straits Marine Park.
Barolin Rocks is only a few metres off shore and accessible all year round.
Marine life is everywhere!
There is fantastic variety of invertebrates, including colourful nudibranchs, graceful Spanish dancers, prolific sea stars, and an amazing array of soft and hard coral.
Amongst the rocks there are moray eels, rays, wobbegong sharks and an incredible range of reef fish including coral trout.
Turtles, curious sea snakes and even dugongs can also be encountered.
Barolin Rocks is certainly worth a break if you’re are on a long Queensland road trip.
