INFORMATION
Hopper barges WH-301, known as Gemini, and WH-302 were identical barges originally working in New South Wales.
At one stage they were joined to form a drilling pontoon before being sold.
Gemini found herself working in Western Australia before being scuttled in 30 metres of water as a recreational dive site for advanced scuba divers.
She is located upside down 15.5 kilometres (9.6 mi) north west of Mindarie Marina, a 25-minute boat ride.
Shortly after her scuttling, commercial divers removed sections on top of the wreck to allow safer penetration.
The barge is an excellent dive site, harbouring numerous crayfish and Port Jackson sharks while large schools of drummer hover above her.
The metal hull is covered in colourful soft coral, sponges and sea tulips
Gemini regularly attracts large Samson fish which in turn, unfortunately, attract anglers, so care needs to be taken to avoid entanglement with fishing tackle.
