INFORMATION
Former HMAS Tobruk (L50) was a modified Round Table-Class Landing Ship Heavy (LSH) of the Royal Australian Navy.
The Tobruk was scuttled on 29 June 2018 approximately halfway between Bundaberg to the north and Hervey Bay to the south.
She now lies on her starboard side just below the surface in 30 meters of water in the Great Sandy Marine Park, 31 kilometres (19 mi,) off the coast,
The vessel’s open stern doors expose the huge main tank deck providing a 120 metre (130 yds) swim-through, almost the entire length of the wreck.
The wreck is serviced by Hervey Bay Dive Centre.
Hervey Bay is a 4-hour drive (300 km/190mi) north of Brisbane via M1 and the Bruce Highway (A1).
Tobruk is one of Australia’s Magnificent Seven! READ MORE
