HMAS Tobruk (L50) – Landing Ship Heavy (LSH)

Ex-HMAS Tobruk was a modified Round Table-Class Landing Ship Heavy (LSH) of the Royal Australian Navy.

The Tobruk was scuttled on 29 June 2018, and now lies on her starboard side just below the surface in 30 meters of water in the Great Sandy Marine Park, 31 kilometres (19 mi) off the coast, approximately halfway between Bundaberg to the north and Hervey Bay to the south.

The vessel’s stern doors are open exposing the huge main tank deck allowing a 120 metre (130 yd) swim-through, almost the entire length of the wreck.

The wreck is serviced by Hervey Bay Dive Centre.

Hervey Bay is a 4-hour drive (300 km/190 mi) north of Brisbane via M1 and the Bruce Highway (A1).
